Dr. Stroud
Originally from Arlington, VA, Dr. Stroud has a great passion for dentistry and helping others. For her, having the opportunity to leave a positive and lasting impression on her patients is incredibly fulfilling. She understands that many feel apprehensive toward dental care, and she wants to ensure that people can undergo the necessary treatments to preserve their smile in the most comfortable and stress-free way possible.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Stroud first decided to pursue a career as a dentist when she was a freshman in college. Growing up, she too had anxiety and fears about visiting the dentist. However, it was because she began to learn more about oral health care and after shadowing an amazing and compassionate dentist that she saw how rewarding it was to help ease the mind of patients. Since then, she’s worked hard to refine her skills and expertise, and she always strives to help comfort people and provide them with a new perspective on dentistry.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
To begin her career, Dr. Stroud first went to Howard University for her undergraduate degree before studying at their College of Dentistry for her dental doctorate. Even after graduating, she constantly seeks continuing education to expand her knowledge and remain on top of the latest advancements in the field. She’s completed numerous courses in a variety of topics, including periodontal screening and recording, laser dentistry, and oral health literacy.
She’s even received the Excellence in Oral Diagnosis and Radiology Award and is also a member of various organizations, such as:
- American Dental Association
- Texas Dental Association
- American Association for Women Dentists
- Academy of General Dentistry
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When she isn’t treating and improving pearly whites, Dr. Stroud spends much of her time with her two dogs. Other than taking them on hikes, she also loves tending to her house plants and traveling to new areas to explore. Having grown up around the military, she’s used to visiting new places, as she’s moved 15 times in her life!
