Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions

Sometimes, making the time for a phone call or visiting a dental office in-person to ask important questions just isn’t possible. For added convenience, we’ve compiled some of the most frequently asked dentistry questions we receive and their answers below!

How Many Times Should I Go to the Dentist Every Year?

To successfully prevent common dental problems and enjoy long-term oral health, we encourage our patients of all ages to schedule checkups and cleanings every six months on average, or twice each calendar year.

I’m Having a Dental Emergency! What Should I Do?

Always start by contacting our Dallas dental office! We do everything in our power to accommodate emergency patients for same-day appointments, providing pain-relieving treatment that helps you return to your regular routine in record time. For more information, you can also take a look through our emergency dentistry page.

Can I Be in the Same Room With My Child During Their Appointment?

Of course! If your son or daughter would prefer for you to stay nearby during their dental checkup, it’s completely fine for parents to sit in the treatment room by their side. If it’s their very first visit, you can even sit in the dental chair and have your loved one sit in your lap so that they feel calm and comfortable.

Do You Offer Braces?

Yes! Orthodontic treatment can resolve a wide variety of different dental issues, both functional and cosmetic in nature. At Midtown Family Dentistry of Dallas, both traditional metal braces and Invisalign clear aligners are available, depending on the patient’s preferences and needs. We also encourage parents to schedule orthodontic consultations for their children around the age of 7 – starting earlier is best!

Do You Take Dental Insurance?

Our Dallas dental office is in-network with many PPO dental insurances, and Mediaid plans for children are also welcome. If you’re in need of further financial assistance, low-interest financing through CareCredit can be arranged as well – our team will be happy to help you explore your options in further detail!

When Should My Child First Go to the Dentist’s Office?

In most cases, we recommend that parents bring their son or daughter in for a brief initial visit when their first tooth erupts, or by their 1 st birthday – whichever happens first. Most of this gentle appointment will be focused on going over good at-home practices for parents, rather than an extensive exam or cleaning. As your loved one grows, our approach will grow with them!

I’m Nervous In the Dentist’s Office. Can You Help?

At Midtown Family Dentistry of Dallas, comfort is always a top priority. That’s why we offer nitrous oxide, which is a mild form of sedation that can help adults and children alike feel much calmer in the treatment chair. Our operatories are also outfitted with televisions for a fun distraction throughout the appointment process.
