Dr. Brian Hwangpo is a pediatric dentist at Midtown Family Dentistry with seven years of experience in the dental field and one year at the practice. He is dedicated to helping children feel safe, comfortable, and confident during their dental visits. Dr. Hwangpo is known for his calm, gentle approach and his commitment to creating positive dental experiences for both children and their families.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Pediatric Dentist?
Dr. Hwangpo was drawn to dentistry because of the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives through compassionate, hands-on care. As a pediatric dentist, he finds great fulfillment in helping children overcome dental anxiety and building trust early, setting the foundation for lifelong oral health.
Where Did You Study Pediatric Dentistry?
Dr. Hwangpo earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the New York University College of Dentistry in 2019. He later completed his pediatric dentistry residency at NYU College of Dentistry from 2023 to 2025. Prior to dental school, he completed a dual-degree undergraduate program at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language in 2015.
In addition to his academic training, Dr. Hwangpo served as a commissioned officer and general dentist in the United States Army from 2019 to 2023. He also spent part of his childhood living in Mexico City and is fluent in Spanish, allowing him to better care for and communicate with Spanish-speaking families. His clinical focus includes treating children under oral conscious sedation, helping ensure care is delivered in a calm, gentle, and stress-free manner.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Originally from New York, NY, Dr. Hwangpo enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and gaming in his free time. He also values spending quality time with his wife, their cats, and their dog.
